In 2009 I was doing a century bike ride in Palm Springs when I discovered the upper high desert. This area sits at an elevation of 3000 feet and is 25 miles from Palm Springs. There are four cities that make up this area with Joshua National Park as a main attraction. I bought an area of raw land made up of 3-6 acre lots with great views. My goal was to build a series of desert houses. Each one totally unique. My first one was The Boulder House. This house has a sod roof with 40 foot walls of glass that opened up to fabulous views. Half the house was covered in artificial rock for sun protection. One winter a full-grown Mountain Lion raised her two cubs on the roof. Believe it or not we all lived in perfect harmony.
