House of Trees

This was a 150 acre piece of raw prairie without a single tree. It had 360 degree fabulous views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range to Pikes Peak. Over a period of 20 years, I planted over two thousand trees, built a caretaker’s cabin, an old fashioned barn with corrals, a riding ring and a two story log sided main house. I added a fishpond with a old windmill. This brought in animals from all around and in the end, it became a wildlife sanctuary with 100 acres of seeded pasture with native grasses. Often in the winter you would find a herd of elk taking up residency along with deer and antelope.
